How does the intercultural Tandem work?
Regular meetings take place between German and foreign partners in tandem pairs. These meetings are individually coordinated and arranged. Some activities that partners engage in include going out for ice cream, attending football matches, visiting the theatre, strolling through the Christmas market, and being invited to family celebrations or cooking and eating together at home. This programme encourages partners to share their hobbies and be creative. In addition to the weekly meetings, there are larger group meetings for all those interested in the programme. These take place approximately once a month during the semester at the Institute for Multiphase Processes (IMP). During these events, there are Christmas and Secret Santa meetings, country presentations by foreign students, and culinary evenings. Here, you have the opportunity to find a tandem partner, learn about foreign cultures through country presentations, try new dishes and ingredients, or simply have a pleasant conversation with others. The activities of the tandems are also exchanged, for example, in 2012, there was a joint visit to the opera.
